FLAG OF BRAZIL COLORS. The flag of Brazil is one of four official symbols of the Federative Republic of Brazil, as established by art. The current version of the flag has the colors and dimensions designed by Raimundo Teixeira Mendes, November 19, 1889 (the date it was adopted), replacing the flag of the second Empire of Brazil. It is based on a green rectangle with proportions of 7:10, overlapping a yellow diamond and a blue circle in the middle of which is a white band crossed with the national motto, "Order and Progress" in green block letters, with the central letter and a bit smaller, plus twenty-seven white stars.
The national flag of Brazil is composed by a green background with a large yellow diamond in the middle of it. Inside the rhombus is a blue circle with white stars of different sizes that describe a kind of starry sky. There is a white banner that crosses the circle. The circle is a motto that reads "Order and Progress", which translates in English to "Order and Progress".
There are a total of twenty-seven white stars on the flag of Brazil. Each star represents each "Federal District", as well as state of Brazil. The green color means Brazil's verdant pasture and forest region, while the diamond shaped yellow color indicates gold resources in Brazil. Brazil was once the home of the largest gold mines in the world.
